Sneak Peek: A&O’s New Look

by

For almost 6 months Sarah and I have been keeping a BIG secret from you guys… we are redesigning the look of this space!

Cleaner lines, a fresh color palette and much more user friendly, the final product will be ready soon. Here is a peek at the inspiration collage we sent to our cracker jack team at Creative B’stro.

We are bursting to show you the new site so stay close.

What’s on Your Walls?

by

via

Hi, Friends!  I’m curious.  Where do you find art?

20×200 has affordable art organized by easily searchable categories (i.e. landscapes, people, etc.) and personality type so your fashionista friend can find just the piece for her.  Almost too easy, right?

Some people swear by etsy.

via

On the DIY end of the spectrum, I’ve been working on an instagram wave version of this polaroid cloud wall (from one of my favorite home tours ever) for a few weeks now.

via

A strong image or a clever grouping defines a whole room.  Tell me, what defines yours?

Do you frame concert posters or prints from exhibits?  Stick to black and white photographs?  Cluster small images around one larger one?  I can’t wait to hear!

Oscar Night Fashion 2012

by

Did you guys watch the Oscars on Sunday? Here were my favorite looks…

Love Penelope’s nod to Grace Kelly meets Vivien Leigh old Hollywood elegance.

Michelle Williams can pull off the most unusual colors (I still dream about the Vera Wang mustard gown).

Natalie looked sweet and elegant, almost like a wedding dress but in a good way.

I really love this Tom Ford cape-column look on Gweny, modern and chic winter white.

This color and shape is stunning on Viola Davis.

A young fashionista, Shailene Woodley, emerges in 60’s era elegance and understated glamor. I look forward to watching her on the red carpet for years to come.

Who wore your favorite look?

My Charleston Favorites

by

Thanks to all of your suggestions we had an amazing and delicious trip to Charleston.

Husk Charleston

Charleston embraced us with bacon-y kisses at a late dinner at Husk. Heath Ceramics and Wine Punt glasses on the table were a chic California touch but the food was delightfully Southern. Drew’s parent’s surprised us by picking up the bill all the way from Georgia as a Valentine’s Day treat! It was a perfect night.

Charelston

the next day I headed out on a riverfront jog

the pineapple is a symbol of welcome, thanks Charleston I feel right at home

one of the beautiful rivers, I almost feel Pat Conroy whispering in my ear.

famous side gardens did not disappoint

I think I’ll just paint my door bright coral for spring. Drew got back from groomsmen practice and we hit the town together.

bundles of vintage cookbooks shopping on King St.

and bedazzled Marker’s Mark bottle of course.

Lunch at Gaulart & Maliclet French Cafe was so fun! At the long communal table I heard a 7-year old boy tell his father is was the best French food he has had outside of Paris. Also they brought out a Dijon mustard trio with our lunch, enough said.

Charleston Dont Tread on Me

It’s not only Colonial architecture in the air folks (Gadsden Flag)

Penninsula Grill Coconut Cake

Truly this coconut cake was one of the best things I ever ate, don’t miss it. The Peninsula Grill.

Swiss Chard Garden

I saw lots of red chard and other winter garden greens growing in pretty flower boxes and public parks!

Crab Rolls at Cyrpress

A late night snack at Cypress was a highlight. Mini crab rolls topped with celery leaves on homemade buns.

Pimento Cheese Burger a Cypress

Drew had the Pimento Cheese Burger a Cypress (sans bun of course but he did try a few bites of coconut cake #sorrygluten).

Miss you Charleston. I’m reading South of Broad to keep the dream alive.

What to Do in Santa Fe, NM?

by

Spring break is booked!  We’re going to Santa Fe and I’m eager to look out on a bright blue sky and breathe in the clean mountain air.

You had such wonderful tips for Lydia about Charleston– any must-sees in Santa Fe?

We’re planning to visit the Georgia O’Keeffe museum and her home at Ghost Ranch.  There will be chile rellenos con huevos and huge latté bowls at Cafe Pasquals and a massage at the Japanese-style onsen Ten Thousand Waves.

Maybe a long drive through the painted desert.

And lots of Santa Fe chiles, fresh and dried.

So tell me, Southwest lovers, what should we add to the list?

xxSarah

P.S. Design Sponge just did a great bit on O’Keeffe as a style icon.  I love how her stern look offsets the color and flow of her art.  Are you a fan?

Sick Day

by

Hi friends!

If only my bed looked this inviting.

Lydia and I are both at home with colds.  Hope you’re having a wonderful day and we’ll see you tomorrow.
